Oil on the underside of the engine oil leaking from the front main seal can accumulate on the oil pan, engine mounts, and other components beneath the engine. I was really suprised to hear of the leak from the main crank seal on the front since the engine typically leaks from the rear seal before the front The offset lip contacts the shaft at a different point than the original equipment seal, preventing oil leaking through the groove and eliminating the need for expensive crankshaft repair or replacement.

I am trying to determine if i should replace the seal or deal with the relatively small leak
Each time i take the car for a drive it leaves a small stain.
I noticed oil leak from front of oil pan.took to shop replaced front main seal, shop said it was definitely main seal Next load 180 miles out noticed same leak continued delivery to nc from houston and back. Need help to fix front main seal oil leak It looks like front crankcase seal leaks
Is it just bad seal, or something worse I did use search button. I replaced the front main seal and timing cover gasket, the thing still leaks I checked and it's leaking on the back of the pulley, from above the oil pan
If anything the leak is worse now
The main seal had a plastic sleeve, and a metal ring I used the metal ring to. Okay so i have a 97 corolla with the 1.6 about 300k on it noticed front main leaking replaced the seal still leaked replaced oil pump and seal again still leaks i'm at a loss here 2 new main seals still leaking is it the crank itself Or am i missing something
You're probably going to have to pull the front cover Are you sure its not the water pump leaking down over the front cover That would be a lot easier and cheaper to fix.
