It happens when the shot gets wet If you think it's more than a scratch and the receiver has a crack, have it looked at by a competent gunsmith If you do a search (which it sounds like you did) on cleaning reclaimed shot you will find a number of posts and threads.
Why is My Vape Cartridge Leaking? – Eightvape
If you discover white stuff leaking from your shotgun cartridges, you need to take immediate action
The first, and most important rule, is safety
Always wear eye and ear protection when handling any ammunition, especially when it exhibits signs of degradation Avoid handling any suspected ammunition without the proper protective gear. What causes white stuff to leak The white stuff leaking from a shotgun cartridge is almost certainly powder residue, possibly mixed with other contaminants
This doesn't mean the powder itself is white Rather, it suggests a compromised seal within the cartridge allowing propellant or other materials to escape. The other issue is that poorly sealed shells can leak that crap into the magazine tube or into the gun Stichclimber, the shot buffer leaking out of your shells is not a big deal
You can simply seal the crimp folds with some candle wax dripped onto them
When reloading buffered shells they have come up with a thin plastic disk that gos on top of the shot/buffer payload that stops the leaks. Not sure what the proper name for it is, but i've always heard it referred to as grex I'm sure that you've picked up a shotgun shell now and then and noticed the grex was sifting or leaking out of the crimp at the mouth of the shotshell I just wanted to alert you that you might.
You can't just use the ol' boresnake on this stuff Getting the residue out is a major ordeal A 5 month old new arrieta 570 20ga has white residue that appears on either side of the rib along the barrels When i unload them (when going to the range), a white/clear crystal like substance falls out (only a small amount)
I apologize if this is a stupid question, but i'm not sure what this is
I'm using remington buckshot (12 gauge) Are these crystal from the shot shells, or coming from something else Are they the rounds propellant powder? I'd just keep an eye on it, see if the bleach helped
They are pretty robust guns
